Self sufficient

I teach my clients that “self sufficient” is the goal. That reaches past crowns and sashes and touches each part of adult life.

One example that comes up often is my pageant clients who pay big dollars to have their hair and makeup done at every pageant, photoshoot and sometimes even appearances. Now, I do not expect my littles to know how to contour like a miss. I do not expect my young teens to know how to get that perfect “amy bump.” But I absolutely expect them to pay attention and learn everything they can. The goal is that one day, hopefully in the Miss division, they will be free of other people’s schedules. They will be able to prepare and primp in their own time and on their own dime.

Now this level takes serious work. It is not easy, by any stretch. But, in my opinion, it is worth every minute of work.

Well, all of that sounds excellent ... until I had to spend an entire Friday rebuilding a website. My website. The website built for me by a person who is no longer available to fix said website. It is worth noting, that is the website that will be the place from which I launch my first book in just under two months.

Yea. Self sufficient is the goal. But good grief the obstacles, the failures, the tears that stand between you and there. I dont say this to deter you, I say this console you. It is part of the process. You are not alone in your suffering. All the greats have worked thru this very thing.

And as I’m sure you have heard, any THING worth doing requires grit and determination. Cry it out tonight (unless you just did your makeup, then maybe just scream a little) then get back to business and get it done.
